Besides guiding our research, writing publications and proposals, reviewing, mentoring and teaching, I serve on several Committees and Boards. I'm a member at large on the Board of ASLO, am the Chair of MOSSFA (Marine Oil Snow Sedimetation and Flocculant Accumulation) a working group funded by the Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative (GoMRI) and the chair of the ASLO ad hoc committee on emerging issues workshops, and am on the advisory panels of MSI (Marine Science Institute) and ECOGIG (ECosystems Impacts of Oil and Gas Inputs into the Gulf). I’m an active member of TOS (The Oceanographic Society), ASLO (Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography) and AGU (Americal Geophysical Union). I also enjoy being on the committee of several graduate students other than those in my lab, including Laura Windecker (UCSB), Tyronne Martin (UCSB), Wei Deng (Arizona State University) and Jan Taucher (GEOMAR, Kiel, Germany).
